In anticipation of Clifford Township’s Bicentennial Celebration on July 1 & 2, there has been a beehive of activity along the Main Street.

Members of the Clifford Township Community Alliance (CTCA), the Mountain View Garden Club, the Clifford Township Volunteer Fire Department, and numerous community volunteers have worked many hours sprucing up the town.

The “Welcome to Clifford” sign is landscaped with flowers, shrubs and a serpentine stone wall. Across the street, recently planted maple trees, marigolds and lilies border the Cemetery’s stone walls. Flower boxes filled with purple zinnias and marigolds adorn the bridge. At the flashing light, Japanese Tree Lilacs flank the bank’s parking lot.

Continuing up the street, beautiful gardens, well tended lawns, and hanging baskets on the porches of private residences lead the way to the Firemen’s picnic grounds. London Plane trees, planted to provide shade in the future for parade spectators, line the fence. Colorful flowerbeds and a handsome, carved sign at the Fire Hall, welcomes everyone to the grounds.

Next time you drive through town, slow down, enjoy the scenery of our beautiful home town, and say “Happy Birthday”.
