Yesterday, along the base of an inside wall crawled a Wooly Bear: infallible predictor of winter severity.

A wide black band in the middle means a snowy winter…
…wide brown bands indicate a long beginning to the winter, a long ending, with a short mid-season thaw…

Encouraged on to a sheet of paper to facilitate his transport to the out of doors, the Wooly Bear curled up tightly rendering it’s stripes unreadable.

Today, several inches of snow are falling – Wooly Bear gratitude for the kindness of returning him to freedom?
