The sun sets on yet another day of record breaking 90 degree plus heat.
Participants in the Fell Mountain Single Track Challenge race around the course laid out through Merli-Sarnoski Park.

It was a beautiful day on the D&H Rail Trail Bed in Forest City for National Trails Day.

We watched a Rough Legged Hawk (Buteo lagopus) as he followed the ridge of Elk Mountain northward toward his home in the Tundra.
This hawk is characterized as being ‘uncommon’ in this area, and is startlingly tame as it rarely encounters humans in its home in the far north.

A relatively warm dry winter, that ended cold and damp, gives way to Spring.
An anonymous skier enjoys the secret “Deer Skull Trail”. An expert cross-country ski trail tucked away in one of the valleys somewhere in the Elk Mountain Area.
Snow came soon! About as much as the Blizzard of ’93 (24″+), but no wind.
A Tree Lighting Party was held on December 8th with caroling, photos with Santa, door prizes, and refreshments.
