#114 Building the Lackawanna Railroad

Dennis Martin joins us once again at The Gathering Place with his local history lectures.
Dr. Andrew Bedford of Waverly was the first to propose a railroad through “The Notch” in 1830. 20 year later, George Scranton started building it. Clarks Summit was created and named at that time to identify the station where locomotives stopped. The village and the railroad were connected thereafter.
