Visitor From the Tundra

We watched a Rough Legged Hawk (Buteo lagopus) as he followed the ridge of Elk Mountain northward toward his home in the Tundra.

This hawk is characterized as being ‘uncommon’ in this area, and is startlingly tame as it rarely encounters humans in its home in the far north.
