Come and explore as we venture to Winterthur and Hagley Museum in the heart of the Brandywine Region, Wilmington, Delaware.
Founded by Henry Francis du Pont, Winterthur is the premier museum of American decorative arts with an unparalleled collection of nearly 90,000 objects made or used in America between 1640 and 1860. Tour this collection displayed in his magnificent 175-room childhood house. Our narrated garden tram tour features highlights of the 60-acre garden designed by du Pont. www.winterthur.org
Following lunch (at your expense) at Winterthur, we travel down the road to Hagley. Take a journey through the historic 1802 du Pont Company black powder yards and the garden and grounds of the first du Pont family home in America. This visit includes demonstrations and an understanding of life for the first du Pont family. www.hagley.org
