Peak of Summer
Astronomical summer is but two weeks old, putting us smack dab in the middle of meteorological summer here on The Hill.
Make sure to take extra effort to savor what’s right before us: temperatures in the 90’s eased by nightimes in the 50’s, plenty of Dog Days ahead, summer nights filled with stars and lightening bugs, lake water finally warmed to tolerable temps.
This is one of the best times of the year, with the Union Dale and Clifford Fireman’s picnics to look forward to, and a rare need to wear anything but t-shirts, shorts, and flip-flops.
Even reveling in the joy Summer’s peak, some of us have in mind that each day is subtly shorter than the one before, bringing us closer to the first frost, the first snow, and first runs…
